Nationals registration:
During the turmoil following the 2008 Kenya Presidential Elections, embassies resorted to placing adverts in the daily newspapers urging nationals to get register with contact details. Typically an embassy will have emergency contact information for expatriates, but how does an embassy contact tourists or business travellers? Broadcasting messages to nationals:
Recovery activities following the 2004 Asian Tsunami would have been greatly assisted with two-way communication between embassies and nationals. Telephone calls are not practical.
